Grand couple wedding entry during wedding at Radisson Blu Temple Bay

Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay Mamallapuram is one of the biggest wedding venues on Chennai's East Coast Road.

But when it comes down to it, couples ask us the same three things about Temple Bay. What does it cost?

Will it fit our guests? And how will our photos look?

At HiQ Weddings, we’ve captured Tamil and South Indian weddings across wedding venues Chennai and beyond and thought that we’d share our insight on this…

Resort, Heritage and Luxury in One Setting

Two pools, a spa, and four restaurants give guests plenty to do between events. The UNESCO-listed Shore Temple is only 1.4 km away, and Krishna's Butterball is 0.9 km away. Few venues let you pair a luxury resort with 8th-century stone carvings.

Grand Ballroom and Indoor Wedding Celebrations

The Grand Ballroom is a pillarless hall of 10,495 sq. ft. with a 16-foot ceiling.

Per the official events page, it holds 1,100 guests theatre style and 400 to 450 at round tables. Listing sites report lower numbers because they count only part of the hall, so confirm your layout with the venue. Acoustic walls split it into three smaller halls of about 3,150 to 3,360 sq. ft. Port Hall, with its own 2,450 sq. ft. foyer, suits a Sangeet, Mehendi, or Vratham.

Lawns and Outdoor Wedding Spaces

The Savannah Lawns handle the largest receptions. Savannah Lawn 3 holds 2,000 seated or 2,500 standing, and combined, the lawns can host up to 3,000 guests, according to Wedding.net listings. Outdoor amplified music must end by 10:00 PM, and then the party moves into the ballroom.

Beach and Bay of Bengal Weddings

The Bay of Bengal Lawn faces the sea, so it works well for vows and sunset cocktails. The Infinity Poolside area is better for Haldi or welcome drinks.

The resort supports multi-day Tamil, Tamil Brahmin, and Telugu weddings. Vratham and Pandhakaal fit indoor spaces like Port Hall. Oonjal fits the lawns, and Nalangu, Haldi, and Mehendi suit the poolside.

Foyers over 2,400 sq. ft. can display Seer Varisai gift trays. Fire poojas are allowed in designated lawn zones. The kitchen also serves South Indian tiffin and filter coffee stations, which guests love on a long wedding morning.

Tamil Wedding Rituals to Photograph

Face the mandap east, and the sunrise Muhurtham glows over the sea. Then watch for the Oonjal on the lawn, the laughter at Nalangu, the Homa fire, and the banana-leaf feast.

The Best Photography Locations at Temple Bay

The east-facing beach suits sunrise portraits. The 220-meter meandering pool mirrors palms and chalets, and its stone bridges work well for casual couple shots. The infinity pool lines up with the horizon for sundowner portraits.

Coconut groves give soft, filtered light for family portraits at midday. Off-site, the Shore Temple, Krishna's Butterball, and Pancha Rathas (2.0 km) are minutes away.

Candid Photography for Tamil Weddings

The photos that matter most years later are rarely posed. They're a grandmother's blessing, cousins teasing at Nalangu, and the couple's quiet pause before the Muhurtham. You can't direct these moments, only be ready for them.

Cinematic Wedding Photography by the Coast

Curving pools, open lawns, and 44 acres suit drone footage and slow, wide shots of sea and sky. Ask the venue about drone rules early.

How to Choose a Wedding Photographer for Radisson Blu Temple Bay

Look for someone who has shot Tamil and South Indian weddings and knows the rituals well enough to be in position before they begin.

Then decide what style you want: candid, traditional, or cinematic. Most couples want a mix, so ask to see full albums, not just highlight reels.

HiQ Weddings has photographed weddings across Chennai and beyond, with deep experience in Tamil traditions.

We know the rituals and their timing, so we plan the day around the light, the gate, and the curfew. See our South Indian wedding photography work.
